[On the far edge of the lake - as far as you can get from the cabins, and semi-obscured from view by some trees - 1am finds Shego sitting on the bank, lazily trailing her toes through the water and lighting a cigarette. As much as she's tried to avoid herding small children, she's still had more encounters today with idiot fourteen-year-olds who think they're at the center of the universe than she was planning to have all summer. At least she's alone-ish now, although it feels like camp never really sleeps. She inhales deeply, exhaling smoke.]

Oh. [For a minute he just sort of hovers there with nothing else to say. He takes a puff of his inhaler.]

[She observes this, then sighs and puts out her cigarette. Smoking around an asthmatic kid feels unnecessarily unethical.] Go back to your cabin. Sleep. And try not to be so gullible tomorrow.

Shego. [She doesn't exactly ask, but she gives him a raised eyebrow and an expectant 'your turn' look.]

[He rubs the back of his head.] Martin Roth.

Martin. [She's silent for a moment, then accepts the inevitable and picks herself up.] C'mon, I'll walk you back. Might make me look irresponsible if you drown.

[He needs a moment to absorb that she thinks he has a winning smile. Then he needs a moment to reach up and pat his hair.]

...My hair isn't floppy.

O-okay. [He pads along beside her and tries not to look up at her too much. He's actually a year too young to be here, so he's technically waiting for a growth spurt.]

Maybe not yet, but it's...heading that way. Don't go the whole summer without getting a trim, you'll look like you escaped from a late-90s boy band and that's only good for a very specific kind of girl.

[She's noticed, but - either due to tact or apathy - she's not mentioning it. On the off-chance that he is fourteen, he really needs to be taking extra hormones or something.]

Paddy nodded, "Yeah, I'll go with that. Can't fucking stand Chicago these days, y'know." He took a drag from his cigarette and stubbed it out against a rock, "Know anyone about here with some drink on 'em?"

"Yeah, but I'm not making a dent in my stash until at least next week." She exhaled a plume of smoke into the dark. "Until then? You wanna look up Misato. She spent like the entirety of last summer in a semi-comatose state of boozedom."

"I was keeping mine for a special occasion." He lit up another cigarette and looked up at the stars a little, "I didn't realise they'd let her back in, y'know?"

She shrugged. "I figure she blew the manager. Actually, she probably blew him last year and let him tie her up or something this time."

"Figures." He shrugged, "Here's to never getting that fucking desperate, hey?"

"I'd drink to that. If I had a drink." She ground the butt of her cigarette into the ground at her side. "So. You're still at college, right? What's your major?"

Nah, not really. My m-- uh, parents want me to get socialized. And malaria.

"Business. Dad's suggestion, that kinda thing, you know what it's like." He lit up another cigarette and pushed the pack and a lighter towards her, "And you?"

[She glances down at him.] Give your folks some credit - malaria's been pretty much a non-issue here for a long time. You're kinda young to be this paranoid.

She took a cigarette and lit up. "Thanks - psychology." Not strictly true. Eh. "Couldn't hurt to get a degree for messing with people's heads." She lay back again, making herself comfortable. "So either your dad's some kind of business tycoon who's shaping you him in his image, or he's flipping burgers for a living and wants you to be everything he's not."

"Buisness tycoon is sorta... one way of putting it. I really don't want to fucking end up in his image, though. It's sorta complicated."
