Hey. So-called evil genuises. How's about a few basic rules?

No mind control.
No hive minds.
No clones. Wait. No genetic experiments of any kind.
No mystical whatever. Especially if it's something you have to dig up from a dead culture. It's dead for a reason, guys.
No robots.
No apocalyptic tech dork stuff.
Actually? Nothing with an 'off' switch.

And you know the handful of dorks and/or plucky save-the-world types who are inevitably going to ruin your day? Try to neutralise them before you execute your evil plan.

This is pretty elementary stuff, y'know.

So, Jimmy says you'll stab me if I don't show up at the ward. Should I be worried about you or him?

Heh. [She watches him work silently for a moment, then smirks.] No other vices, doc?

[She gets a slightly exasperated look for that.] You've been spending too much time with Jim. [He finishes up with her knuckles.] Anything else while we're here?

[And that actually gets a laugh.] Hey, I didn't say anything. That little leap of logic was all you.

[At the question, she shakes her head.] I'm good. Thanks.

Well I've been corrupted past the point of no return years ago. Maybe there's still time for you. [He rolls his eyes, going over to the sink to wash his hands. When he's done he turns back, opening the door with a raised brow.] Come on, you owe me a drink.

[She smirks at him and heads out, still amused by the fact that he holds the door for her. Ordinarily she'd find it pretty patronising, but from McCoy she suspects it's just...good manners or something. Something sorely lacking from her social circle, such as it was, back home.]

Yeah, yeah. I have no idea how an open bar and the constant disasters haven't combined to turn all you guys into raging alcoholics.

Hell if I know, it's a damned miracle if you ask me. [McCoy answers, following after and down the hallway.] I have to say I'm surprised. You struck me as a casual drinker at least. Have some sort of 'my body is my temple' idea going there? [He asks, not quite sure if that's something to mock like a frat boy or be impressed at like a doctor.]

[She pulls a face. Idea? Her body is a temple, darn it.]

I guess? It's not like I've ever had a job where I've known I'd be off the clock for long enough to sober up - and recently? I've been working in a pretty competitive field. You show up drunk for one gig and that's your reputation gone forever.

Imagine that, a life of villainry promotes good health. [He muses.] I'm going to be honest kid, besides the villain thing I can't see why they dragged you here. There are far worst people drifting around. [Nero, for one. God help them if he ended up here.]

You go ahead and call me 'kid' one more time and then I'll show you exactly why I'm here, doc. [There's not much real threat to it, though. She huffs out a breath.] Whatever. Seems like there're 'better' people than me here, too.

Prefer ma'am? [He asks with a raised brow.] You have a point. There are a few wardens here that shouldn't have the title too. [He comments as they reach the pub.]

Geez, I'd prefer my name. I've been asked if I'm a witch, some creep called me Girly, there's the weird salesman who calls me Sister or Comrade or whatever, then there's Jim and his whole 'sweetie' bit...it is wearing on me.

[She holds the door open for him, just for the sake of contrariness.]

[Bones can't help but chuckle at that, both the name bit and the opened door.] I'll attempt to curb the force of habit. [He answers as he walks past.]

You have a last name Shego? [He asks, walking to the bar to find a decent bottle of bourbon.]

Nope. Parents thought it'd be cute to have just the one, I guess. [She pauses.] It is not cute. You ever tried applying for a credit card with one name? Ugh. I've had guys on the phone practically in tears because there's nothing to put in one of their little boxes or whatever.

[She perches on a bar stool, leaning on her elbows as she watches McCoy on his search.]

'Credit cards?' [He asks, finding the bottle and pulling it onto the bar. He reaches for the glasses, pulling one up and holding it out, silently asking if she's going to have a drink too.]

[Shego hesitates, then nods. Why the heck not. It's one less thing for Jimmy to tease her about.]

You...don't have credit cards in the future? Geez, and you whine about my time being backward.

Yeah well being a villain isn't a career choice. [McCoy answers, pouring her a glass and sliding it over. He doesn't plan on letting her have more than two, god knew the hell he'd get if he somehow got her drunk for the damned first time in between shifts. He pours himself a glass and sits down beside her.]

Got rid of money the way you know it a long time ago. After the third World War I think. [He comments, lifting his glass.]

Huh. [There's nothing much to add to that.] And being a villain is a career choice, doc - is there some way in which I am not living proof of that? Might not have lasted so long as I'd have liked, but I chose it and it paid, okay?

World domination always struck as more of a goal. [He says dryly, lifting his brow at her.] You come from a damned strange place there Shego- alternate dimension, whatever you'd call it here. I had enough of that term the first time I heard it used and believed it.

[She sips the bourbon as McCoy talks and -- huh. That's...new. Not to her usual tastes at all, but sweeter than she'd expected. Not bad.]

Uh huh. And when was that? [She considers, then adds dryly:] After you showed here, if you're any luckier than I am.

[McCoy shakes his head at that.] Like I have any damned luck. To make a long story short some vengeful idiot managed to travel back in time and fuck up timelines, change our lives as we knew them, the whole god damned works. [He takes a drink before continuing.] That Captain Janeway and Q are from the other timeline- hell listen to me. I'd be a content man if I never had to use the word 'time line' again in my life.

[He glances at her.] You sound there like you know the feeling.

Minor and dumb in comparison but yeah. I lifted something for my boss - the Pan-Dimensional Vortex Inducer - and long story short? It got switched on at a bad time and we spent a couple weeks trying to get back home. Ugh.

Sucks that your timeline got... [No, she's not saying the F word.] ...yeah.

Pan-Dimensional Vortex Inducer? [He raises his brow.] What time did you say you were from again.

[He waves it off, taking another drink.] It's not something any of us like to dwell on. Too many 'what if's' for my taste.

2005. [She takes another, longer sip of her drink. It's going down smoother now, after the initial shock has passed.] Don't even bother telling me my world is messed up because I know that already.

Who the hell had that kind of technology in 2005? [That was still the damned stone age in his opinion. At least medically- couldn't even handle kidney dialysis. ] So what are your plans if you do 'graduate' from this hell hole?

Not all that sure, doc. [Blunt, but true. She lets out a long-suffering sigh.] Look, if I 'graduate' then I'm gonna have to be a completely different person, pretty much - and I have no idea what that person's gonna want to do with her life. I mean, if I'm ever gonna want to go back to the day job I had before I went to work for Dr. D? I might as well just kill myself right now.
