Shego had left the Infirmary pretty much as soon as she was able to walk unaided, winding up in her cabin just in time to have Regina George's file land in her lap. By the time she'd picked over the life story of Miss American Sociopath 2004, dealing with her felt like something that could wait until after she'd had some rest.

It was one of the only times she hadn't knocked on Kirk's door before letting herself in and making her way over to his bed. She couldn't tell if he was awake or not; she'd purposely made a bit of noise on her way into the room to warn him she was there.

"Jim?"

"Because apparently I had to tell him there was no chance of us getting back together? I mean, he hasn't said a word about it for months and it's not like he asked to sign up to my love life's newsletter but whatever. He's mad that I didn't, anyway."

"Maybe it's just me, but I missed the spot on you where it says 'reserved for Tim Drake if he feels like getting up the balls to ask me out again'."

She'd been thinking pretty much exactly the same thing so it was a relief to hear Kirk say it out loud. There was the other, more abstract concern that Tim had only let her make up with him because of the possibility that she might date him again at some point, but that gave Tim even less credit than she felt he deserved just then. She shifted closer, putting her chin on his shoulder.

"He'll get over it or he won't. Not a whole lot I can do about it either way."

"Should I start watching myself in hallways just in case?"

Maybe.

"Unlikely. I don't think he thinks you stole me or anything."

"What if he tries to kill me off so you'll fall into his short arms?"

Shego laughed under her breath. "I don't think that's something we seriously need to have a contingency for, Cap'n."

She wrapped an arm around his waist.

"I got assigned a new Inmate too."

Jim didn't stop her from touching him or push her off, but he didn't do a whole lot to reciprocate it. He didn't really respond when Aristotle bugged him for attention either by sitting on his feet.

"Yeah? Who is it?"

She noticed, though, and pulled back a little, staying close but not touching him. Despite herself she kind of considered him the victim in everything that had happened at port and didn't want to push it.

"Remember how I said that blonde high school chick was pure evil?"

That news at least made him laugh and it didn't hurt to laugh as much as it did a few days ago, so that was nice to learn.

"You're kidding."

"So not. I haven't talked to her yet. Definitely feels like something I can put off 'til tomorrow at least."

"You should probably accept that she isn't actually pure evil before you try anything with her."

[gotgreenmagic]

"Says the man who hasn't actually read her file, to the woman who has."

[captain_jtkirk]

"What's in her file then?"

[gotgreenmagic]

She sighed and relented. "She's not pure evil, she's just gone through every single day of her life without hearing the word 'no'. Maybe in ten years she'd be closing in on pure evil."

"So tell her no. Give her a curfew. Take away her blowdryer."

"You think I'm asking you for advice here? I've got a plan."

[captain_jtkirk]

"You know me, I just like to give you advice even if you don't want it," Jim answered, shifting a little bit so he could get the dog off his feet which were falling asleep. "Or need it."

Aristotle shook his head, reoriented himself, then hopped over to the other side of the bed and curled up against the small of Shego's back, which she wasn't a huge fan of but couldn't actively object to either.

"...I know." She looked at him. "Have you slept recently?"

Traitor dog.

"... I don't remember," he answered honestly after a moment.

"Maybe that's something you should try," she said neutrally. "Take it from me, you do really crazy things when you don't sleep."

IF that was a reference to anything else, Kirk would probably have smiled and made a joke about it. "I haven't really gone anywhere to do any crazy things."

[gotgreenmagic]

"Then try to get some sleep now and you won't have to find out what you do do when you don't sleep. Okay?"

"I'm not tired."

[gotgreenmagic]

"Then just lie there with your eyes closed and maybe it'll happen anyway."
