gotgreenmagic: (hatin' on summer camp)

[On the far edge of the lake - as far as you can get from the cabins, and semi-obscured from view by some trees - 1am finds Shego sitting on the bank, lazily trailing her toes through the water and lighting a cigarette. As much as she's tried to avoid herding small children, she's still had more encounters today with idiot fourteen-year-olds who think they're at the center of the universe than she was planning to have all summer. At least she's alone-ish now, although it feels like camp never really sleeps. She inhales deeply, exhaling smoke.]

"Sure. You keep this quiet, and..." And sensing that Ned is easily messed with, she crosses one leg over the other, making her sundress hike up. Way up.

"...I don't know, what do you want for your half?"

[His eyes are drawn to the peek of shapely thigh, and he gets derailed.] Um.

[It takes him a moment to collect his thoughts into coherent form, but when he does, he sticks his hands in his pocket, looking firmly back up at Shego's face.]

I let enjoy the quiet for a bit and finish that [again the quick glance at the cigarette] And you let me walk you back to your cabin without any fuss.

Shego smiles at this, taps a bit of ash off her cigarette and takes another pull.

"That's a good offer, but I think I can go one better. You let me enjoy the quiet for as long as I like, and I don't beat you unconscious and tell the rest of the staff you were attacked by a bear. Sound good?"

[identity profile] easy-aspie.livejournal.com 2010-07-23 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Not... really. [Ned looks distinctly uncomfortable about being roughed up by a camper. But he sighs, then sits down on the ground a few feet away from her, gazing out at the lake.]

Never mind. It's cool. I'll wait.

She sighs and rolls her eyes. "Spineless much? Sheesh, look, if you're allowed to be out here then so am I. What's with the camera?"

[identity profile] easy-aspie.livejournal.com 2010-07-23 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
H-hey, I have a spine! [Ned gets upitty for like two seconds before subsiding] Okay, so... it's kind of... flimsy. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

[He fiddles with the lens cap and shrugs] I don't know, I just thought - it's pretty out, might be interesting to see how the shots turned out. It was a dumb idea, it's probably too dark anyway.

[Ned was silent for a moment] What are you doing all the way out here?

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2010-07-23 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Avoiding my responsibilities," she says blandly. "Might take a swim, water's still okay."

[identity profile] easy-aspie.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
You don't believe what they say about, um. Snakes, and... other stuff in there? [Ned's got shifty eyes; if anyone half-believes in lake monsters, it's him]

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Pfft. Yeah, sure. Snakes, giant leeches and that three-headed slime monster that eats little kids. It's all just BS.

[identity profile] easy-aspie.livejournal.com 2010-07-25 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He looks a little green around the edges at the possibilities, then swallows, laughing] Yeah, yeah. You're probably right. Just counselors trying to scare the kids out of going skinny dipping or whatever.

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2010-07-25 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably right. Wow. Either you had some really rough experiences when you were a camper or you'll just drink anybody's Kool-Aid.

[identity profile] easy-aspie.livejournal.com 2010-07-26 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
[He grins] Nah, nothing like that. I dunno, I'm not superstitious or anything, I just think there are sometimes things we can't totally explain. [He shrugs, then starts taking off his sneakers] Then again, given that you've still got all your toes intact... [he puts his feet in the water, wriggling his toes a bit, then turning to face her again]

So. Long day?

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2010-07-26 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
[She rolls her eyes expressively.] Yeah, just a little bit. I know high school kids have short attention spans but geez. If I had a dollar for every time I'd had to repeat something...

[identity profile] easy-aspie.livejournal.com 2010-07-26 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
You could probably buy this place yourself [Ned speculated, tossing a pebble idly into the pond, where it vanished with a quiet 'plop']

Don't take this the wrong way or anything, but you don't really seem like the kind of person who's into kids. And yet you took a job where you're surrounded by them all day every day. [He glanced sideways at Shego, looking curious]

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2010-07-26 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shrugged.] This gets me away from my family, the money's not bad and I didn't want to spend the summer flipping burgers.

I worked in a Sonic once. [Ned looked positively haunted by the thought of that job] It was... the worst [he finished, and resisted the shudder that wanted to crawl across his skin.]

For me, it was either this or working in an office. I figure this way I at least get fresh air, all this... [He swept his hand in a gesture that indicated the lake and night sky] And I don't mind the kids. Most of the time.
