[On the far edge of the lake - as far as you can get from the cabins, and semi-obscured from view by some trees - 1am finds Shego sitting on the bank, lazily trailing her toes through the water and lighting a cigarette. As much as she's tried to avoid herding small children, she's still had more encounters today with idiot fourteen-year-olds who think they're at the center of the universe than she was planning to have all summer. At least she's alone-ish now, although it feels like camp never really sleeps. She inhales deeply, exhaling smoke.]

[Ned had been walking the edge of the lake on rounds, making sure all the campers were in bed. He'd thought it would be neat to take some pictures of the lake in the moonlight, and had slung his camera around his neck for that specific purpose. He noticed the red glow of the cigarette before he noticed the girl, but as he approached she came into focus]

Hey. You're - you're not really supposed to be out here, y'know.

She smirked and leaned back, looking up at him. "What are you gonna do, tell on me?"

Um. I don't want to have to do that. [He rubs uncomfortably at the back of his neck]

I guess - I mean, you're not causing any trouble or doing anything against the rules. Well. Except for being out here in the first place. And that. That's really bad for your lungs, y'know. [He looks pointedly at the cigarette]

Can... could we maybe make a deal?

"Sure. You keep this quiet, and..." And sensing that Ned is easily messed with, she crosses one leg over the other, making her sundress hike up. Way up.

"...I don't know, what do you want for your half?"

[His eyes are drawn to the peek of shapely thigh, and he gets derailed.] Um.

[It takes him a moment to collect his thoughts into coherent form, but when he does, he sticks his hands in his pocket, looking firmly back up at Shego's face.]

I let enjoy the quiet for a bit and finish that [again the quick glance at the cigarette] And you let me walk you back to your cabin without any fuss.

Shego smiles at this, taps a bit of ash off her cigarette and takes another pull.

"That's a good offer, but I think I can go one better. You let me enjoy the quiet for as long as I like, and I don't beat you unconscious and tell the rest of the staff you were attacked by a bear. Sound good?"

Not... really. [Ned looks distinctly uncomfortable about being roughed up by a camper. But he sighs, then sits down on the ground a few feet away from her, gazing out at the lake.]

Never mind. It's cool. I'll wait.

She sighs and rolls her eyes. "Spineless much? Sheesh, look, if you're allowed to be out here then so am I. What's with the camera?"

H-hey, I have a spine! [Ned gets upitty for like two seconds before subsiding] Okay, so... it's kind of... flimsy. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

[He fiddles with the lens cap and shrugs] I don't know, I just thought - it's pretty out, might be interesting to see how the shots turned out. It was a dumb idea, it's probably too dark anyway.

[Ned was silent for a moment] What are you doing all the way out here?

[Shego was, unwittingly, sitting near the place where Tony had stashed some beer. Seeing a camper, he decided to sit down and relax a bit. He noticed she was smoking, but as long as no other councilors were around, he wasn't about to say anything. Instead, he decided to check his journal while he had nothing better to do.]

[Paddy was kind of fed up after one day or so, and wondered why the hell he'd signed up for this in the first place. Oh, so it looked good on a cv so he could get himself a real job for once and show his dad that he didn't need him and his little mob to do anything constructive with his life. Nope. He could do it all on his own.

Not that effort was something familiar to him. He spotted Shego down by the lake, or, more accurately, spotted the light of her cigarette first. He lights up and heads towards her,]

Hey there.

[You're never alone at camp. It's the curse of the sleep away idea. Tim has been patrolling, and wandering, and maybe exploring a little. The smoke caught his attention, though.]

At least you're doing that away from the kids.

"Avoiding my responsibilities," she says blandly. "Might take a swim, water's still okay."

Shego straightened up enough to give a lazy mock salute, then lay back down. "Hey." Some getting-to-know-you exercise from orientation drifted back to her. "You're....P something. Parker, Patrick, Percy...?"

Uh-huh. You gonna give me the DARE talk? [She grins and taps out another cigarette, holding it out to him.]

[For her part, Shego's either not noticed him or is pretending not to have noticed him. She tucks her hands behind her head, slightly tuned out, kinda stargazing.]

He grins and sits just behind her a little, avoiding the water for now, "Patrick, but you can call me Paddy. Everyone does."

[He shakes his head, and stands upwind so he doesn't have to smell it.] I don't remember how that one goes. Could probably give you the 'you're turning your lungs black' speech, though.

Please, could you be a little bit more sanctimonious? [She turns and blows smoke at him out of spite.] There's a gradient between nonsmokers and three-pack-a-day cancer pits. I'm just relaxing.

"Paddy. I'm Shego." She smirks over at him. "You look like you're enjoying this about as much as I am."

He replied, dripping with sarcasm, "As always, it's an enriching life experience of helping small children and trying not to kill one of them before they all go back home."

"If you just let them drown, you can blame that on understaffing or lousy training and either way you get off easier than if you hold their heads underwater. Just a tip." She stretched out comfortably. "This not your first year?"

[He scrunches his nose and waves his hand in the smoke.] Could if I tried. If you had a drink, I could bitch about that, too.

I'm rationing. No liquor until at least two weeks in. [She grinds what's left of her cigarette into the grass next to her.] I guess you're one of those guys who thinks this is a genuinely beneficial learning experience, huh?

[He rolls his eyes and makes a note to take whatever booze he sees her with. She so isn't old enough. :|]

I'm not that weird, [he said with a half smile, sitting next to her.] I needed to keep busy this summer. Nothing wrong with learning how to make people listen to me while I'm at it.
