[On the far edge of the lake - as far as you can get from the cabins, and semi-obscured from view by some trees - 1am finds Shego sitting on the bank, lazily trailing her toes through the water and lighting a cigarette. As much as she's tried to avoid herding small children, she's still had more encounters today with idiot fourteen-year-olds who think they're at the center of the universe than she was planning to have all summer. At least she's alone-ish now, although it feels like camp never really sleeps. She inhales deeply, exhaling smoke.]

[She was silent for a moment, floating on her back.] Yeah, good thing. You wouldn't be wasting valuable sleeping time with me otherwise, right?

[He snorted, swimming around her idly.] Right. But luckily, I don't sleep much, so there's nothing to waste.

Sure. [She watched him circling her as best she could.]

...what are you doing? This is kinda weirdly predatory.

[He stopped, treading water again.] Oh. Sorry, I didn't - don't like sitting still that much. Sorry.

It's fine. Just don't start humming the theme from Jaws or anything.

[She paused, treading water herself, so low in the water only her nose and eyes were visible. Then she lifted her chin to talk.]

Hey. Race you to the far shore and back?

[This would be a pretty long round trip, and would take them closer to the cabins than would strictly be safe for purposes of non-discovery. Yes, she was aware of all that.]

[Of course she was. Tim pushed himself up in the water, craning his neck to peer in that direction, and the bunks. He paused for a moment, then grinned.] Yeah, okay. On three?

[He was so going to see this coming.]

...three.

[She flashed a smile and launched away, moving into a swift forward crawl.]

[Oh, he so did. Tim shot after her with a watery shout, keeping pace. For a chess club geek, he kept in good shape.]

[He really did. The tiny headstart she'd stolen was eaten up almost instantly; by the time they'd reached the far side, they were pretty much even. She turned efficiently and pushed away against the mud floor of the shallows, heading back towards where they'd started.]

[He turned and pushed as well, but slipped in the mud, ruining the kickoff. It left him panting, but he swam harder to try and catch up that lost distance.]

[Shego - who, unsurprisingly, had a bit of a competitive streak when she was set off - kind of lost sight of where Tim was in relation to her, forgoing glances to her side in favor of gathering speed and staying focused. When she emerged from the water and slid onto the grass, breathing hard, she had absolutely no idea if she'd won or not.]

[Oh, she'd won. Not by much, but she'd totally won. Tim crawledonto the grass next to her, coughing out the last mouthful of water he'd gulped to try and catch up. Hadn't worked out to well.]

God, you're fast, [he said, flopping onto his back.]

[She gave an adrenaline-fuelled laugh, propping herself up on her elbows and looking across the lake. There was a light on in a cabin near the shore, and the vague silhouette of someone in the doorway. They didn't seem to be moving any further than that, though.]

Yeah, apparently the black lungs haven't slowed me down all that much yet.

[Tim laughed with her, rolling onto his side to look at her.] Good reason not to jump up to three packs a day, [he panted.]

Heh. [She rolled onto her side in kind, tucking one arm under her head to cushion it.] I might even quit at this rate. You're a really bad - good - I don't know. You're an influence.

[He snorted, pushing wet hair out of his face.] I've been told that, once or twice. Usually with as much certainty.

Hey, there's worse things than being an okay influence. [She reached out, snagged a towel she'd dumped earlier - yeah, she'd come prepared - and started drying herself off a little bit.] It's all practice for commanding your future corporate underlings, right?

[Tim snorted and sat up, shaking his head and squeezing water out of his hair.] Right, right. I'll just have to secretly undermine Dad, and make them all somewhat Less Than Evil.

[Shego wrung the excess water out of her hair - which was a slightly more involved undertaking for her than it was for Tim - then slipped her dress back on, throwing the towel around her shoulders.]

Yeah, a couple years of gentle nudging and they'll be wrapped around your finger. [She inclined her head in the direction of the cabins.] I'm gonna head back. You coming?

Uh - yeah, one sec. [Squeezing out the sides of his boxers - which was really kinda difficult - Tim headed for his clothes, shaking water off as best he could before tugging on his shorts and shirt. He turned to fall into step next to her.] I've never been good at finger wrapping. But I guess that's why it's an internship.

Uh huh. You'll be terrifying by the time you're thirty. Scaring everyone you meet into slight okayness and making all sorts of morally neutral deals with your clients.

Thirty? I'll have that down by twenty-five.

[She laughed and threw up her hands.] Oh, hey, I'm sorry. You're gonna be mildly badass and incredibly efficient. I apologize for ever doubting you.

Apology accepted. It's okay; most people do. [He snorted, shrugging.]

[They'd reached the cabins. She paused outside the door to hers.]
