[The CES is just being kind of ordinary mid-European countryside today. Trees, grass, a lake, rocks, sunshine, all that jazz. There are also two tents near the lakeside: one of them is that horrible burnt gold Starfleet command colour and the other one is green and black. Yes, these are tents belonging to the most predictable people in the universe, shut up.

Shego is sitting on a rock with her toes in the water, paging through a day's worth of network entries because she hasn't bothered to check it yet. Kirk is possibly off being eaten by a wolf somewhere, she doesn't know or care much.

It's kind of weird getting all this stuff backwards. A couple of people talking about some drama or other, then some nerd in a horrific tie talking about friendship, Angelica warning against married life, drama, Amanda being crazy, the Doctor talking about....huh. Then a couple more bits and pieces and finally the revelation that Sexby beat the hell out of the Marquis for some reason or other.

Huh. Oh well, nothing that impacts on her at all so she doesn't really care.]

Somehow, by a miracle and sheer force of will, Kirk had managed to evade being eaten by a wolf today.

He was actually just getting some sunshine and taking his time with it. He'd never really been able to claim that he was more in love with nature than his starship but Enterprise was different than the Barge, and the Barge made him pine for fresh air whenever he could get it. If he had to drag Shego out camping with him and Aristotle every once in a while... then so be it.

Jim came up behind Shego and nudged her in the back with the toe of his boot lightly. "Anyone kill somebody or a Warden abuse their power yet?" Because that was really all that happened anymore.

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"No to the first, 'meh kinda' to the second. Sexby beat on the Marquis, apparently. Exactly why seems a little bit vague, maybe he breathed too hard on Angelica or something." She shrugged and put the communicator aside. "It's probably all under a Warden filter like I'm guessing it is whenever anything happens."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"What?" As the Marquis had once been his Inmate, and the only that he'd actually managed to graduate, as the present company was too damn stubborn, Kirk actually cared about this latest development. He pulled out his PADD and started to read the report left by Kay.

"It sounds like Sexby's pissed about something the Marquis and Angelica did a year ago," he said finally. Though honestly, it didn't sound like Sexby had much of a defense and the Marquis was letting his pride get before sense. Which didn't surprise him at all.

Sighing, Kirk offered her the PADD because he didn't really care about keeping things from his Inmate. "Here, read it if you want."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks." She took the device and paged through Kay's report, with a look on her face like she was reading a newspaper article she wasn't actually interested in but had accepted it was going to make up a good chunk of the water-cooler gossip in days to come.

"...Eesh. What a trainwreck. 'Stubborn jerk beats on other stubborn jerk, single incident lasting five minutes gets blown up into gigantic melodrama'. Puh-leaze."

She paged down to see the responses and hit Kirk's in short order, one eyebrow crawling up.

"...You had to drag Tim and Joker back up again, huh." She, of course, didn't realise that this had practically become a precedent case for unjustifiable violence from Wardens.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tim defended you for the same reasons Sexby defended his wife," Jim pointed out. Hell, this was just a mess. He was glad that he and Shego were in the CES at the moment because beyond his already stated advice, he didn't want to get involved in this. He didn't really ever want to get tangled up in the discussions when the other Wardens started going after each other.

"Someone else would've done it eventually. They did the last time this crap started happening. And I'm sure it'll be there next time too."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great. Nobody gets to move on from anything."

She slumped back, lying flat on the rock and staring at the sky.

"I don't get this whole 'freaking out when a Warden does something stupid' bit anyway. I mean, sure, Zero for a week or whatever, but it's like people forget that you're not all here to be totally irreproachable beacons of light all the time."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"We are to be held to a higher standard though. I think that's when people get their knickers tied up in a knot," Jim pointed out. "Though I'd recommend a harsh punishment for an Inmate that did this too. Only with an Inmate, you have someone who's directly responsible for carrying that punishment out."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess. Whatever, for future reference? If you beat somebody up because something bad happened to some woman in your life who's totally capable of defending herself, I won't think any less of you." A pause. "Well, I will, but because you'd be a patronizing throwback jackass, not because of the violence."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'd need a lady friend first," Jim commented dryly. Leia had been the last person he'd even been remotely serious about. That was going on six months ago now. And he really didn't see his solo status changing any time soon.

"I'll just needlessly defend your honor if it ever comes into question again. You're close enough a lifelong partner."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, no, if it's my honor I'll just go right ahead and break your face. I can defend myself."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then I'll just put you in zero and then where will we be?" Jim honestly hoped that this never even came to pass because if she ever let herself be killed again, he was pushing her off the side of this boat himself and then he was going home. That would be the last straw.

"Don't do anything stupid and this won't be a problem."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never do anything stupid." Bold claim, Shego.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That made Kirk laugh. It had a little bit of a bitter tone to it, because deep down he was still mad at her for the whole mess with the Joker and maybe some cruelty to it as well. "Yeah, me either. I also don't drink like a sailor and I don't have a starship."

Yeah, Shego knew exactly what the topic of derision was here. She made a vague insulting gesture in Kirk's direction that, all things considered, she'd probably learnt from him. "Oh, bite me. So I did one thing, I was crazy and a hard reset felt like a good idea at the time."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was still stupid," Jim answered. He gave her another nudge with his foot a moment later, making the official decision to drop that topic before they both got all riled up about it again. "Let's go for a walk."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Just when she'd started to get used to lying down.

"Find my shoes and I will."

Her shoes were about ten feet away, next to her tent. She could probably even see them from where she was.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lazy ass," Jim muttered but he went to get them for her. Probably just for the sake of throwing them in her direction after he picked them up.

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
And then she was being pelted with shoes. Well, a shoe, because she caught the second one and took a moment to pull them both on before hopping down off the rock. At least she was dressed like a normal person; being pelted with a boot might've hurt.

"So are you over your 'secret Kirk babies everywhere' turmoil yet? I forgot to ask."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
She would've deserved it.

Kirk shrugged a little bit. He'd thought about taking her suggestion and going back but in the end, it wouldn't have been worth the effort. A good number of them were dead in the attack on Vulcan and he couldn't even begin to start on his days in Iowa and the surrounding area.

"Pretty sure I'll never really be over the idea. But I don't feel like harassing women about it."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Great. That's....healthy. I think." She tucked her hands into her jacket pockets as they walked. "And fits in nicely with your ongoing 'not going back to those losers on the Enterprise' agenda."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Jim gave her a glare out of the corner of his eye for that. There would be a reason why he never talked about it. And that would be because he was in love with the grudge he had against the lot of them. "I have a job to do here."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
That'd be a more convincing argument if you were actually doing it, Kirk. But she knew not to say that, because the last thing she wanted was for him to make any serious attempt to Warden her competently. She liked this current situation of them both being utterly unmotivated.

"Yeah, I know."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Not that it's a very action packed job." He liked to think of himself as a realist. There wasn't any denying that he wasn't really pushing her hard towards graduation like some of the other Wardens. But almost two years together was a long time and that amount of time was more than a lot of people could boast.

"But I hate beating dead horses, so here we are."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Here we are." She smiled sweetly at him. "I could always take up pointlessly stealing stuff and hurting people if it'd make your life more interesting."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then I would lose respect for you. Petty thieving and bullying? You're better than that. And not in the do something bigger and more evil way, cause you've proven you're better than that too."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
She scoffed. "Oh really. When did that happen, sport?"

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"When you spent the past year doing nothing terribly evil."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Spare me. At best, that proves I'm lazy, or I have a functional sense of pattern recognition. Nothing evil anybody ever does here ever lasts, so why bother?"

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nothing really evil lasts in the real world either."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Whatever, I think we both know I'm not talking about anything fundamentally evil here. I'm just saying, I'm not better than anything, I just know there's nothing I could do here that'd be worth the consequences. I'm not some member of the 'irrational brainwashed crazy' brigade who does stuff because they don't know how else to exist."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"You're just lazy. And we're beating a dead horse again."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Look where we are. We sent the whole stable to the glue factory like six months ago."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"And nothing's stuck." That was a terrible joke but.. it was too late to take it back. "What a horrible waste of horses."
