Could I possibly get a reality check over here?

So Cute-Perky-and-Russian has gotten her crazy face on. Big freaking deal. Nobody's actually died, right?  I was wrong, apparently somebody did. I'd say my face was red, but, y'know.

Best case scenario, we all get a few bruises, tomorrow or next week or whenever she realizes what a total drama queen she's being and cools off. Normal service resumes. Worst case scenario, a few other people have to take a week off work for whatever reason. It sucks, then you get over it, then in a month there's some other disaster and nobody cares that this ever happened.

Other worst case scenario, the Barge crash-lands. Yeah, like we've never seen that before. Last time that happened it set back our schedule by, what, a week? Less? Like we're even in a hurry to get anywhere.

Also, you guys do know that the Admiral caps off powers that could accidentally wreck the Barge, right? Including Wardens? [She's mostly thinking about Bruce Banner here.] We're never gonna end up....I dunno, floating through interdimensional space, clinging to whatever scorched furniture we can keep hold of. We have way better insurance against Acts Of Blonde than Moscow.

Nothing unique or special is happening here. Just try to avoid sharp edges for the next few days and it'll blow over. Eesh.

Maybe I'd be in the mood to give one if our peers weren't so fixated on killing someone just because they think it'll fix things--like it'll help in the long run anyway. Like killing Sveta is going to make her suddenly appreciate this place and realize she made a mistake in waking up one day and thinking "screw this place" like most of us do from time to time...

Yes, we should assume the Admiral hasn't already been affected, that the ship won't spontaneously incinerate, that we won't be sucked into the Fade, that the air won't turn poisonous or a myriad of other rather unsightly possibilities... Including one such as myself accidentally causing something even more horrific due to these events.

With no end in sight, I prefer not to take such chances.

I assure you, it knows no worldly borders - and there are places worser, still.

Hexes of this nature can be exceedingly dangerous. Especially those of enough magnitude to affect the entire ship. We are no safer allowing this to continue than any other manner of plague.

Well, yeah, I'd rather we didn't have a Warden throwing a superpowered temper tantrum at all. Just saying, even if this was the Titanic and she was the iceberg, we'd have enough lifeboats to go around.

Yeah. There's really no reason to panic. Ultimately, most crises on the Barge boil down to temporary inconvenience.

Well, that's refreshing. Kirk would just take this as evidence that I'm slowly becoming an unfeeling monster.

Not to mention, as I don't think I've seen anybody else bring this up, if all of this is happening because she's upset, and someone goes and kills her, doesn't it stand to reason that when she returns she'll be even more upset? Being killed is upsetting!

Look, however this thing ends, her future options are to either not curse the Barge again, or ask the Admiral to take away her ability to do it in the first place. If she ticks Box C and decides to send the Barge on a repeating cycle of whatever the heck this is, I'm pretty sure that should count as grounds for demotion, in which case she loses her powers anyway.

Yes, because the Admiral's ever so reliable. Like that time we were wholly without power for almost a week. You were with the crew that tried to restore the engines, weren't you?

Yeah, I was. And that also ended after a week, and we have no way of knowing if getting our faces melted off was what got the lights back on or if that was a total coincidence, so if anything that actually supports my point.

For once, I agree with you. This is no worse than a flood. Everyone is overreacting. Personally, I had a worse time last Halloween. Besides, would taking out Sveta even stop what she started?
