[There was still something subtly 'off' about waking up in Kirk's room while not hungover or death tolling or recovering from an especially traumatic flood - and about waking up in Kirk's bed while the man himself was actually in it and not asleep on the couch.

Shego stared blearily at his back for a few moments. Vaguely, it occurred to her that it was Christmas morning, although after it had been spring in Gotham and God-only-knew-when on the Enterprise, her perception of time was still kind of distorted. It wasn't as if the date and time didn't feel completely arbitrary on the Barge anyway. (And she identified more as a Scrooge than a Grinch - she didn't actively hate Christmas, she just didn't care about it, and she wasn't invested in making anybody else's easier for them either.)

She slid out from under the sheets and stumbled off towards the bathroom, noticing on the way that 'Santa' had not graced Kirk's cabin with his presence in any noticeable way. Maybe he just hadn't shown up on time to get included in anybody's lists, or - like her - they hadn't decided whether they hated him yet.  Although she was probably unique in that she was sleeping with him while that was still a topic under debate.]

[It was weird enough for Kirk to wake up with a girl in his bed anyway, since usually he either left her behind in her bed or most times the girl left before she actually fell asleep there. But it was Shego and he didn't really have the energy to kick her out. They had been codependent when they weren't sleeping together so it was pretty much the same thing, right?

She woke him up when she left, though he didn't really have the mindset pulled together to do much besides pull his pillow closer and turn over onto his other side.

That it was actually Christmas went completely over his head. He never liked the holiday anyway.]

[By the time she was done in the shower, it had become apparent that she hadn't had enough sleep and her options were either to crawl back into bed for a couple hours or hit the gym and work up a bit of adrenaline to offset her exhaustion. The latter option had the more immediate appeal of not risking any serious conversation with Kirk, but on the other hand, it felt too much like work and it was Christmas.

She got back into bed as unobtrusively as possible, but he'd moved and she knew he was awake.]

Hey.

[Sorry if I bruised you at all last night? Maybe just let that go unsaid.]

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
[That was always an appreciated apology.]

"Hey. You're welcome for my convenient shower, by the way."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"What, are you keeping score now? It didn't make a whole lot of sense to go over to my cabin just to use mine." She relaxed, tucking one hand under the pillow. "Just bill me at the end of the month or something."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah shit, I forgot you have one now," Jim said, laughing a little bit. "I'm losing my memory in my old age."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe if you weren't trying to preserve your brain in alcohol," she drawled.

"By the way. Happy Christmas." She shrugged with one shoulder. "I guess."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"It's Christmas?" Jim asked, frowning slightly. "I didn't think I've been that drunk since I got back."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it's Christmas." She almost asked if the flood hadn't been a clue, but he seemed intent on pretending it didn't happen and she wasn't enormously eager to contradict him. "For what little that means. You don't have any presents out there, so, I guess you weren't a good boy this year."

Okay, so maybe he'd shown up too late for anything specific but he didn't even have any of the generic stuff that some people seemed to give to everybody.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"And I graduated an Inmate and everything," Jim answered with a smirk. That was kind of weird that there was nothing. The past two Christmas he got toys and alcohol from just about everyone. "Guess I'll just have to accept whatever she has to offer me."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Jim, if I offer you any more I'm pretty sure that accepting it will physically injure you."

Falling back on sexual references because anything more involved is kind of terrifying? She learned it from watching you, Kirk.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure it already did," Jim retorted, stretching his arm above his head with a small wince.

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry," she said remorselessly. "I'd say I'll go easier next time but I know you've got problems with me lying to you."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim laughed a little bit. This was essentially pretty weird, lying around making sex jokes with Shego and she wasn't actually threatening him bodily harm for doing it.

"It's Christmas, you shouldn't lie to me anyway."

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Really though. Getting offended about sex jokes mere hours after an incidence of actual sex would be hypocritical even beyond the fairly generous quantity of things Shego was prepared to be a hypocrite about.

"It's not like I've got anything left to lie to you about." Which was itself untrue, but whatever. "Not any more, anyway." She yawned.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Seriously? I got it all out of you?"

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Not even a little bit. I just don't have any motivation to hide it from you, because....ehn, it's not like you can do a whole lot about it now." Another shrug. "For example? I had a syringe with enough nanomites to give me back my full powers for forty-eight hours. Hid that in my cabin for like a year."

Jim scowled at her for that and sat up a half second later, reaching for his pants because he didn't really want to sleep with her again right now.

"What do you mean had?"

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
She rolled onto her back, tucking her hands behind her head.

"Destroyed it after I graduated. I figured it might have been useful in an emergency, buuuuut....on balance, probably safer to not have it around. Would've worked on anybody."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well at least she destroyed it instead of giving it to someone else.

"Who'd you get it from?"

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I caught Lewis doing some mad science and blackmailed him. This would have been sometime before the Barge's lamest takeover attempt, I just...wanted something around in case of emergencies."

"Wasn't that what I gave you the phaser for?"

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, occasionally problems arise on the Barge that can't be dealt with by stunning them? You may have noticed."

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"That could be solved with melting?"

[identity profile] gotgreenmagic.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I wanted to keep my options open, sue me."

She glanced at him.

"Are you mad?"

There was an ambivalence in her tone that suggested she might actually care about the answer.

"Kind of," Jim answered. "But it's a little too late to do anything about it so it doesn't matter."
