[Shego's pointing the communicator away from her, doing a slow sweeping shot of the new pool room above decks.]

Has anybody else been up here? It's gotten kinda fancy since we came back, I guess the Admiral found some extra omnipotence in his other pants and renovated. Not that this is necessarily a good thing - gives with one hand, punches you in the jaw with the other, we all get how the Barge works.

[She sets it down next to her, the shot briefly blurring past her as she moves the communicator - eagle eyes will note Shego is a) wearing a swimsuit and b) sporting a black eye and several defensive bruises on her forearms.]

Oh, and the greenhouse looked a little bit more...I dunno, architectural? So if you're into plants I guess it's your lucky day or whatever.

[There's a long silence and then she just makes a noise and turns off the communicator.]

"Oh come on, Shego," Jim rolls his eyes a little. "I think you're overreacting just a little."

If she'd actually seen him rolling his eyes she might have punched him or at least tossed him into the pool, but she hadn't so she didn't.

"You don't even know what I'm overreacting to." She disappeared into the locker room, raising her voice to still be heard. "You don't even know why I'm mad at you!"

But if she had, he would've deserved both, honestly. And maybe he still did because Kirk wasn't above going into a woman's locker room. Though he hung by the doorway because he knew she would punch him if he came in on her changing even though literally nothing was a mystery there at this point.

"Because I'm an ass? And/or because I went to a strip club."

"Zero for two, genius." She grabbed her clothes, retreated into one of the changing cubicles and locked the door.

Kirk sighed again, going over their conversation again in his head. "It's not really emotional blackmail if you don't even care that I went, Shego." That seemed to be where she got the pissiest so he was going with that.

"Whether I care or not is so not relevant. This is about you. You thought I would care. You thought it would bother me."

"This falls under me being an ass by the way," Jim said. "But fine, drunk Jim is petty. I'll work on it."

"No. Being an ass is calling me drunk and breaking out history's worst pickup lines and harassing me when I've already told you to leave me the hell alone. This is - you still don't - "

There was a long silence and, if possible, the sounds of someone angrily getting changed.

"Just go."

"I honestly don't know what else you want me to do. I admit I was wrong. I'm sorry for it. And I'm promising to try to do better in the future."

Eventually she banged the door open and just looked at him.

"If - I dunno, Cissie - came to me and told me the guy she was dating gave her a choice between something she didn't want to do and something she didn't want to happen, and knew damn well that was what he was doing, I would tell her that taking the second option was not her fault, and that she ought to make damn sure he knows that she is not okay with anybody trying to control her like that, ever, no matter the circumstances. Just so we're clear here, in one word, would you have told her something different?"

Kirk flinched a little bit when she threw open the door like that. He honestly had not seen it that way, had no idea how she had really taken it as him being controlling but when she phrased it like that, then fine yeah it made sense. But the woman logic of before went over his head. He figured that she was being a brat about not wanting to come spend time with him or alternatively inviting him to do something since that's what people in relationships did, he was pretty sure but it seemed smart to not mention that.

"No," he answered, crossing his arms over his chest. "But I would add an addendum that she can't just get mad and refuse to tell him why if he doesn't get it and then try to give the silent treatment."

"That was more than one word," she said, but there wasn't really any censure in it. I'm sorry for it. And I'm promising to try to do better in the future - and everything else was window dressing. It was actually more than she'd expected.

She exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand across her face.

"Okay. I -- okay."

She'd expected to feel some sort of satisfaction at making him flinch, but she'd just felt sick, and maybe that was a sign that things weren't a total wreck.

"You know it took us exactly one month to have a huge fight," Jim commented. And he was taking this a promise to stop giving him the silent treatment because they weren't teenagers for fuck's sake.

"I feel like that's a record for us."

"Yeah." She sat down on a conveniently available bench, leaning forward and pushing her hands back through her hair.

"It wasn't the silent treatment," she said finally. "But I get that the silent treatment and 'I'm too mad to have a rational conversation right now' look exactly the same. So if it happens again I'll just tell you that."

"I need flashing warning signs," Jim said, hesitating for a moment before going to sit next to her. "And small words. I really wasn't teying to strap a leash on you and dictate everything. I'm well aware you would murder me in my sleep."

"I'd wake you up first." She glanced at him, brushing a few locks of hair out of her eyes. ...I know you weren't. Not deliberately. I just don't wanna have to feel like you are."

"Thank you, that's real courteous of you," Kirk quipped. "Does this mean you do like strip clubs?"

She raised an eyebrow. "It means that if you want to go burn money on drooling over women who don't look as good naked as I do, then that's your business."

"It's the Admiral's money so who cares," Jim answered with a small smile. "You are hot, so I'll give you that."

"I don't need to be 'given' a universal truth," she said lightly. "Has it really been a month?"

"It really has." It'd been a few days longer than that since he'd died or come close to it or whatever you wanted to call the reason why he was on the Barge again. But they weren't going to tallk about that.

"And you haven't even hit me yet either."

"You're not my Warden any more," she said, as if those two things had any reason to be intimately related. "It's started to feel counterproductive."

"Sometimes I deserve a good smack to the head," Kirk said, bumping her with his shoulder for a moment. "Like if someone walked in and sees me hanging out in here."

"Look, if the door opens I'll get you in a headlock and start yelling. Until that happens, I feel like I've been involved in enough smacking for a little while." She gestured at her face.

"Do you want some ice or kisses or something?"
