So, is the random self-destructive behaviour on Jimmy's part like a long-term thing, or has it started since he got here? Because I don't really want to beat on him again if he's going to enjoy it. Talk about counterproductive.

"Whatever." Shego steps back to let him in, then pulls out a first-aid kit from under her bed and digs out a tube of arnica gel. She tosses it in his direction.

"Use. It'll get the bruising down quicker."

"Yes, doctor." He uses it without a protest, again because he really doesn't want Bones to yell at him for this. It was stupid. He gets that.

"I feel like I've been ignoring you. What's new with Shego?"

"New? Here? You've got to be kidding me. I've been dying of boredom in space jail, see also: last week, the week before that, the week before that and the week before - "

There's a sudden moment of realisation.

"I've been here over a month already? Just shoot me now."

"Five months," he says with a grimace, pointing at himself. "I'd suggest that we go out in some kind of poetic murder/suicide but I think you're here because you're already dead so that would probably hinder the process."

"Yeah. Already dead. Thanks for reminding..."

Something occurs to her for the first time and a slow, satisfied smile spreads across her face.

"They think I'm dead back home - that'll be killing her. Little Kimmy's first murder. If she threw in the whole 'saving the world' bit then that's almost worth me being stuck here. God, I hope she's in therapy or something."

Jim quirks an eyebrow at her. Finally there's some of that sadism he expects from someone who's a prisoner on a magic ship, but he was sort of hoping that she was growing past that.

"How kind of you," he comments. "So you'd say your life goal was to make your arch enemy give up? How grand."

"Hey, my life goals were to get paid for causing chaos and be good enough at it to retire before I hit eighty. And since I can't do that stuff any more? Wrecking my archenemy's life isn't a bad consolation prize."

"No offense but those are some pretty shitty life goals. You could at least aim to retire by the age of forty. Then you'd be able to enjoy the spoils of your crimes."

"Whatever. My life has been one long exercise in learning to set my sights low," Shego said flatly. "And if mine are pretty..."

No, not swearing. She made a vague gesture instead. "...then what are yours?"

Jim frowns a little bit, pointing at himself. "Starship captain." Like that explains everything and it should, if you have any idea of how rigorous Starfleet is. "In only three years, I might add. And the youngest one in the history of the Federation, even beating doppelganger here."

"Not really a goal any more if you've achieved it, Jimmy. After that it's a line on your resume." She refused to be impressed, and what did she know about starships anyway. "So. Any goals?"

"Reach admiral before I'm forty." He pauses for a second, just thinking. "Discover new worlds. Save the one that I'm from from any kind of threat. I wanna make my dad's sacrifice worth it. I want a dog, cause I don't know, I think it'd be fun."

"Dogs are way more trouble than they're worth," Shego said with feeling, then looked at him askance. "What was that about your dad?"

Jim shrugs a little bit but decides that he doesn't want to delve into the pathetic parts of his childhood, like never having a dog or a pet of any kind.

"My dad died to save me and my mother when I was born. And I've been repaying that ever since. Gets old after a while."

"Pretty sure you don't get invoiced for sacrifices made when you're basically a foetus, sport." Her voice was weighty with sarcasm but the undertone was honest. "If you really think that 'repaying' makes any difference to anything then you're pretty messed up."

"I want to live my life to the fullest and I don't want to regret a second of it. That's all I meant. Cause there's really no point in sacrificing yourself for someone who isn't going to be grateful for it. And I don't really want to know what happens when that system of compassion breaks down."

"Huh," she says, and resists the urge to give him a quick lesson on expressing his ideas with comprehensible clarity. If he hasn't learnt it by now - how old is he, anyway? - then he's probably not going to.

"Stay here tonight, okay?"

Paaaauuuse.

"No sex. No sex, ever. I promised the doc a night off and I don't trust you to go back to your own room."

Jim frowns at her anyway. The rape thing pretty much soured any idea of ever having sex with her again, even if he was still her Warden. "I don't really do repeats anyway," he tells her before rolling his eyes, huffing in annoyance.

"I'm fine. You and Bones don't need to tag team babysit me."

"You don't get to do repeats because the second time, we all know how lame you are in bed," Shego said sweetly. "And sure, you came here from a fight with yourself-from-an-alternate dimension because you're fine."

"Don't get too confident in your own skills," he retorts in the same sugary sweet tone.

"He attacked me. We talked. We're over it now." Kirk moves to his feet and starts for the door. "I don't really want to distract you from all the fun you're having here."

Shego scowls at his back, and later she's going to wonder why she feels the need to defend this particular skillset. "It was my first time, jerk, what's your excuse?"

Oops.

Oh well, secrets are for losers.

Kirk stops suddenly, turning around to face her, giving her a wide eyed stare.

Well, that certain broke the rule about not being someone's first time or their last.

"... seriously?"

"What, you thought the 'wholesome' bit extended to everything except...?" Shego huffs out a harsh sigh, feeling a headache coming on. "Yeah. Seriously."

"Oh my god... and then the whole rape thing..." Kirks wants to slap himself... which he does a few seconds later, slapping his palm to his forehead.

"I'm sorry. I don't think I really apologized for it earlier, which I should've but... I'm really sorry it turned out like that."

"Whatever. It was dumb and then the British chick made it dumber."

She shrugs, then shamelessly changes the subject. "Speaking of which, what is her damage? She left, she came back, she doesn't remember being a shrill self-righteous psychopath? Is this another of those whacked timeline deals?"
